Paul Boczkowski grew up in Buffalo, New York and first came to California in the spring of 1967 as a twenty year old soldier trainee at Ft. Ord.
“I was trained as an infantryman at the time of the Monterey Pop Festival and the Summer of Love. I immediately fell in love with the area and I’ve been here ever since.” In 1969 Paul served in Vietnam as an platoon leader in the 9th Infantry division. His decorations include; the Bronze Star for Valor, the Air Medal, the Combat Infantrymen’s Badge and the Purple Heart.
After he was discharged from the service at Ft. Ord in early 1970, Paul worked at a number of various jobs. He was a hotel desk clerk at what is now the Ramada Inn in Monterey, worked at the Studio Theater and Charlie O’s in Carmel, was an apprentice metal sculptor with Gregory Higgins Studios, and he drove a cab for Joe’s Taxi in Carmel. Eventually, he got a job in film as a sound man with Mac and Ava Motion Picture Productions of Monterey.
“I did location audio recording for just about everything they produced during the past 30 years. I learned everything about film and video production from Steve Rosen and Terri DeBono. They encouraged me to take a chance and to make my own film. My very first film won a CINE Golden Eagle and a Silver Apple at the National Educational Film Festival.”

Marie Wainscoat grew up in King’s Beach Lake Tahoe in a family of 16 children all from the same parents. The family owned and operated the Brockway Bakery and all of the children grew up working in the bakery business. Marie’s twin brother, John, still runs the Brockway Bakery today.
“Some of my other brothers and sisters are still bakers but I never liked the bakery business all that much. After high school I studied nursing and even nursed for a short while, and then I became a flight attendant for United Airlines. I did that for a couple of years and then was offered a management training opportunity with Hilton Hotels. I became a manager at the Hilton Hotel in Niagara Falls, New York.” Marie’s real passion was for acting and she was cast by legendary Casting Director Marion Dougherty for a small speaking part with Clint Eastwood in Sudden Impact.

Marie then found work as an associate producer at Mac and Ava Motion Pictures and that is where Paul and Marie met.

Marie and Paul formed a partnership and created a nonprofit, Longtimers Productions, and got the funding to do the Longtimers Project.
